The Waikato Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club are bringing their machinery to Firth Tower!
Come along to check out their tractors, along with the collection we already have at the museum. Experience agricultural history up close and discover the evolution of farming through beautifully preserved vintage tractors at Firth Tower’s historic setting.
Whether you restore, collect, or just admire classic machinery, Firth Tower’s Vintage Tractor Day is the place to be. Join us for a day of nostalgia and community as we showcase vintage tractors that once powered the land. A great day out for all ages!

📅 When and where is the event?
Vintage Tractor Day is happening at Firth Tower, 22 March 2025 from 10am to 3pm. You’ll find us at 266a Tower Road in Matamata.
🎟️ Do I need tickets?
No, regular museum entry fee will get you into the event, which for children (5-16) is $5.00, adults $10.00, and senior $5.00. There is no need to book in advance.
🚗 Is there parking available?
Yes, there is free parking available on-site with overflow parking in the back paddock. However parking is limited, so we recommend walking, cycling, or scootering up the Hauraki Rail Trail!
🌦️ What happens if it rains?
The event will still go ahead in a rain shower, so put on your raincoat and come on down!
However, if it gets really stormy, then we will have to cancel the event. We will make a call the day before, so keep your eye out for updates on antenno or facebook if you see grey clouds circling.
🧒 Is this event family-friendly?
Absolutely! Kids will love seeing the big tractors up close, and there’s plenty of space to explore at Firth Tower.
🍔 Will there be food and drinks?
There will not be food or drinks provided on site, but you’re welcome to bring along a picnic to share with your family or friends.
We’re a small team and want to make this a fun event that’s easy for us to put on and easy for you to attend. Please take everything away with you again when you leave to keep the grounds beautiful.
🚜 Can we sit in or ride the tractors?
For safety reasons, tractors will be display-only, but you can get up close for great photos!
🐶 Can I bring my dog?
No animals are permitted on the historical reserve, so they’ll have to stay home this time.
However, certified assistance dogs have right of access when assisting people with disabilities. Please ensure these dogs have the appropriate coats and valid ID cards.
♿ Is the event accessible?
Yes, Firth Tower is wheelchair and mobility-friendly, with accessible pathways and facilities.
We have a disabled car park space, accessible public toilets, and level paved or gravel paths throughout the site. Please contact us with any special needs your group requires and we will do our best to accommodate them.
